Gary Poon has been an essential team member of the Houston Humane Society since 1997. Upon earning a degree in finance from Baylor University, he accepted the position of Director of Finance. In 2019, Gary accepted the honor of becoming Executive Director.
Gary's work is driven by a passion for helping animals and the families that care for them. Under Gary's leadership, HHS teamed up with local organizations to provide food and medical care to pets of the homeless. In 2021, Gary was named one of the Most Admired CEOs by the Houston Business Journal.
He currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Texas Unites for Animals, Executive Member of the Harris County Animal Cruelty Taskforce, Executive Member of the Southeast Texas LINK Coalition, Advisory Panel Member for the UH CT Bauer College of Business – Leading High-Performance Teams Certificate Program, and Board Member of the Fort Bend Care Center.
