For the Houston Cinema Arts Festival 2020, Houston Cinema Arts Society features virtual and drive-in screenings of films in addition to live stream performances, interactive experiences, and Q&A and panels. This year, HCAF celebrates "Urbana," inspired by the globally popular Spanish-language genre música Urbana, which has its origin in African and the trans-Atlantic slave trade. As a part of the Houston Cinema Arts Festival 2020 (Nov 12 - Nov 22), the virtual screening of My Prince Edward will be available for 48 hours from Nov 17, 7:30 PM. Working at a go-to one-stop-shop of cheap wedding supplies in Hong Kong, Fong herself faces the social pressure to marry. Through the protagonist Fong, writer-director Norris Wong reclaims her home city’s narrative in a movie filled with modern-day questions about the importance of marriage and a woman’s independence. Q&A with director Norris Wong and Hong Kong film scholar and HCAS board member Karen Fang will follow the film. This film is co-presented by Asia Society Texas Center and Houston Asian American Pacific Islander Film Festival.
